Be able to research the development of digital media technologies to support the planning of a new product


My idea for a new interactive product is a music app that allows people to listen to their favourite music and allows users to create groups where they can work together to create playlists and all listen to them or their existing personal playlists together whether they're in the same room or across the world. These groups will be created by creating a free account and sending friend requests. friends accounts can be located by either linking up your contacts for a quick add or searching their user name in the search bar. 

The target audience of my product is people of all genders mainly between the ages of 13-30. the users will likely be in the social classes C1-D which are Lower middle class, Skilled working class and lower working class. However since this way of categorising interests is outdated since people who earn similar income have vastly different interests, people are now categorised using psychographics which was created by Young and Rubicam. my product would most likely be marketed towards Explorers, People who like to discover new things and new innovative brands, Aspirers, People who like status brands, and mainstreamers, people who like family values and tried and trusted brands.

Due to recent developments in technology, such as the apps on mobile phones and computers, I can plan for my app to be compatible with both mobile phones and computers including both laptops and desktops. It could also be compatible with web. This idea for my media product was inspired by a number of things some of those being the conglomerate organisation of Spotify and one of Apples subsidiaries, Apple music. 







I also pulled some inspiration for things like the profiles and adding friends from social medias such as Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok. This works well since the target audience of my app is very similar to that of these social medias, that being between the ages of around 13-25. I chose to make it work this way since it is recognizable to that age group making it easy for them to figure our since it is familiar to them. Other developments such as the creation of social media aid in advertising since it allows for cross platform promotion. It also aids synergy due to easier contact. This has created more opportunities for my industry as products can now be advertised and distributed globally allowing it to reach a larger audience than previously achievable.  





The digital revolution has influenced my idea as 2004 marked the beginning of social media with the creation of Facebook. This idea then evolved leading to the creation of other similar social medias such as instagram, twitter and snapchat. Also in 1999 was when the first music streaming service was created. These both helped my idea since my app is a combination between social media and a music streaming service. Due to the success of other music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music, I know that there is a large market for them. This ensures that my product will be successful.
