LO2: P2+P3+M2+D1: Report

LO2: Be able to correlate the evolution of new media organisational cultures and roles which have impacted the product proposal.

I have chosen the media conglomerate of Apple to show how organisations have been forced to evolve due to new technology and why that has changed the market place. Apples subsidiary, Apple Music has a browse option which allows users to find new music and spreads new ideologies which is an advantage of globalisation. Globalisation is the production, distribution, and consumption of media products on a global scale. This has prompted the music industry to become more diverse as it opens people up to new genres such as R&B or Alternative. Having the browse option has changed the market place as it allows lesser known artists acquire an audience and therefore earn revenue. One way apple music has used new technology is that if a user has Bluetooth headphones they are able to also link to a second pair. For example if the user is with a friend who also has Bluetooth headphones they can connect too and stream the music through both pairs of headphones. This partially inspired my product because I wanted to make a product which allowed people to be able to listen to music together even if they don have Bluetooth headphones or even if they are not together. This will change the market place because people will be able to share the music that they listen to will others and they can enjoy it together meaning that they are more likely to listen to new music that they potentially wouldn't have discovered alone. They may then go on to buy this music on other streaming services such as Apple Music. This all makes my product possible as I know that there is an audience for my product.

The media conglomerate of Spotify has been forced to evolve to keep up with the ever-changing music industry. My sector has changed vastly within the last century. 1962 marked the creation of the first cassette tape. This allowed people to listen to their favourite artists in the house and also, with the creation of portable cassette tapes, on the go however cassettes will have to be rewound unless it is double sided and must be flipped to play the other side, then it will be rewound and ready to flip back to the first side and play again. In 1979n they introduced compact discs (CD's). Similarly to a cassette they allowed people to listen to their favourite artists in their house and also in most cars however they don't have to be rewound and you now have the ability to select specific tracks and you can skip forwards and backwards easily. Finally in 1999 the first music streaming service was created and from here they evolved, and continue to evolve, to meet the ever changing needs of artists and consumers.

As technology has evolved it has brought many new opportunities such as distributing globally. Spotify has shown that it takes advantage of these new opportunities as it now operates in multiple languages. This broadens the target audience as it makes it. ore accessible to people who don't speak English. It also allows for different genres of music such as K-pop and due to this also more artists.

The job roles I will likely need to create my product are a graphics designer, Project manager and app developers.

A graphics designer creates the concepts for the app such as the company logo, typography and colour palette. They are also responsible for designing the layouts for user interfaces, advertisements and commercials and signage for stores, transportation, stadiums and event spaces. This is needed for my product because we will need a logo and a recognisable colour palette to create a brand image similar to how Spotify is recognised for its use of black and green. The layout is important because we must ensure it is easy to understand and navigate. Finally Advertisements, commercials and signage is important for the advertisement of my product. This also links back to colour palette as we can use the same colour palette so that people can recognise it and create that link to my product. I would say that a graphics designer is a traditional role since even before we had digital devices, graphics designers would have likely been needed for the creation of newspapers and the creation of newspapers can be dated back to 1605.

A project manager unites multiple tasks under one term. this captures their main function which is leading the entire project. They are also responsible for the apps consistency to make sure it matches the requirements described by the client. This is needed for my product to ensure that it will meet my needs, works as it is intended and make sure that it all gets done and to a high standard. A project manager is a traditional role because even if the role isn't used in the digital sense, all projects require a project manager. Technology such as project management software aided this job role by making it easier to track and assign tasks along with many other things. Some examples of this software are Monday.com and Trello.

App developers is responsible for coding and maintaining the overall functionality of the app. they will need to be skilled in working with different platforms and their languages. This is necessary for my app as my app will be available across App Store and play store which means that the app will need to run smoothly across android and IOS mobile phones. This is an untraditional role as there was no need for, probably also very little to no understanding of, coding before the digital revolution so this job wouldn't have existed.
